Reducing power consumption using OFDM variants and other DSP data transmission techniques

Today one of the most important challenges in networking is reducing their power consumption for data communication as a step towards a greener world.
Optical modulation technologies such as Fast-optical OFDM have lower power consumption than conventional Optical OFDM. In this project will focused on the study of technologies such as (OOFDM) and Fast-OOFDM as well as modulation techniques such as bit loading and power loading in order to proposed more efficient transmission techniques.
The aim of this project is to propose low power consumption modulation schemes based on variations of the Fast OFDM technique.

In the MPhil stage of research existing optical OFDM based technologies will be implemented with a focus in their power consumption. After completing the investigation of the state of the art for FPGA based optical OFDM and Nyquist WDM technologies ,the research will focus on establishing the system requirement for the Optical OFDM transmitter and receiver system block definition.
